An east facing ridge with a small bowl at the southern end which can take a more north-easterly direction. A smooth slope clear of any obstructions with a shallower incline at the bottom making for comfortable slope landings.

There is no bottom landing field and any cross country potential is seriously affected by the air space restrictions overhead and the Soton A.T.C.

The club has restricted this site to Paragliders (P.G.) only due to its unique qualities for novice P.G. (capable of slope landing), lack of bottom landing, farmer restricted numbers and resultant potential release of pressure on Mercury. Aeromodellers are not permitted to use this site so potential for conflict is avoided.

ACCESS From A3(M), turn off west to Clanfield. At 1 mile, turn right past Rising Sun pub. Follow the signs to East Meon, at approx. 3 miles, turn left at sign to Warnford and continue past H.M.S. Mercury. Continue along past a left turn, a right fork and a cross road. Three-quarter mile past that last cross road the site is on the right.
PARKING Parking is on the Northeast side of the road on the grass verge to the south of the stile under the hedgerow. A maximum of 8 cars (which includes any "Joe Public" / spectators already there)
RIGGING Carry over the stile and rig on the upper shoulder to the right.
TAKE OFF Free at any point along the slope.
LANDING NO BOTTOM LANDING IS AVAILABLE. All landings must be made on the slope which, however is an easier gradient lower down.
HAZARDS No serious hazards exist although turbulence has been experienced close over the trees by the south bowl with the wind further south.
RULES
  1. This is strictly a members only site, and no one, or any equipment, is to be on site without being accompanied by a club Site Warden. This site is not to be used on Bank Holidays.
  2. Pilots with less than 10 Hr's air time have priority.
  3. Only 8 flyers are to be one site at any one time whether flying or on the ground and only 8 cars are to be parked on the road. If activities cause a heavy accumulation of spectators on the road then flying is to cease until the road clears. Any public visitor onto the site should be politely advised of the site restrictions / sensitivity and asked to leave. All flying should cease until they do.
  4. Dogs are not allowed on site under any circumstances.
CONSIDER

This is the most sensitive site we have, it is in full view of the owners and any breach of the rules will cause it to be lost to us. The farmer will claim for any damage.

The reverse (western) side of this ridge is owned by English Nature, it is a nature reserve banned of all forms of recreational flying therefore only contemplate cross country flights if the fields behind launch can be cleared.

Car breakin/theft is very common in the area.
